Wacky Scholarships For Wacky Reasons
Whilst it’s pretty much common knowledge that superior athletes or top academics can apply for scholarships to help fund their further education, many people don’t realize that there are also scholarships available for those with more unusual attributes? Oh yes, academics and superb athletes aren’t the only ones who can be awarded scholarships towards the cost of their college or university education.
Let’s take a look at some of the more wacky scholarships which are available, as many companies, charities and organizations realize that donating a scholarship can be a brilliant way to raise their profile, especially among the student population. There are wacky scholarships available based on your physical appearance (hair color, height, weight etc), for twins or triplets (double or triple the opportunities), for people with artistic capabilities, writers, vegetarians, people suffering from specific illnesses - you name it, you never know, there might just be a scholarship available, it’s definitely worth finding out.
One of the great shames is that many of these more unusual or, let’s face it, downright weird scholarships go unclaimed as many students don’t even know that they exist. If you are struggling to find the funds to pay for your further education you really ought to spend a little time and effort finding out what’s available.
Gender equality has been a primary concern over the last few decades and the field of education is no different. There are more and more Scholarships for Women which have helped women to achieve their equality (or even superiority) in many different fields.Even in historically male dominated professions such as science, engineering and math, there are now a surprising amount of women who have achieved prominent positions in their careers, thanks to a large extent to these scholarships.
Over the last few decades the large number of African Americans in America has not been proportionately represented in further education, with simple lack of money often denying them the opportunity of a university education. There are now an increasing amount of African American Scholarships which are available and are helping to open up more opportunities for these people.
At present, there is a shortfall of qualified teachers across America, but a growing number of Teaching Scholarships are helping to address this problem. With Teaching Scholarships being offered at local and national level it is hoping that more of the top talent in the country will be able to train for this worthwhile career.
